El grupo pertenece a la Unidad de Gestión Clínica de Endocrinología y Nutrición del Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Victoria,  dentro del área de Enfermedades Cardiovasculares y Renales – Diabetes y Obesidad de IBIMA. Las líneas de investigación se centran en el estudio de las enfermedades metabólicas, a través de diferentes aproximaciones, siempre con un enfoque traslacional. En los últimos años, se ha prestado especial interés al estudio de los factores ambientales, la microbiota y la epigenética, en el desarrollo de este tipo de patologías. En consonancia con esta red, nuestro grupo tiene abierta las siguientes líneas de investigación enfocadas al estudio de la genética, el ambiente y la epigenética en el contexto de enfermedades crónicas no trasmisibles como la obesidad, diabetes y alteraciones metabólicas relacionadas, y cáncer, así como en la búsqueda de nuevos biomarcadores y dianas terapéuticas:
